Winemaker at Beyerskloof: Anri Truter
Wine has been part of Anri Truter’s life from the very beginning. Raised amongst the vineyards and cellars of South Africa’s renowned wine country, Anri grew up immersed in the craft and culture of winemaking while his father, Beyers Truter, established Beyerskloof into one of the country’s most celebrated Pinotage producers.
Continuing the family legacy, Anri represents the second generation of winemakers at Beyerskloof and has spent more than a decade refining the estate’s distinctive style. His lifelong passion for wine led him to study Viticulture and Oenology at Elsenburg, one of South Africa’s leading agricultural institutions.
Following his studies, Anri broadened his experience through harvests at Swartland Winery and Portugal’s Quinta Nova estate before returning to Beyerskloof in 2006. Since then, he has remained dedicated to evolving the winery’s craft — combining traditional winemaking principles with innovative techniques to continually elevate the quality and character of every vintage.
