The Stork Shiraz honours the late Ken Mackenzie, pilot, businessman, farmer and benefactor. Stork was Ken’s Second World War nickname (as he was tall with long thin legs and a Spitfire pilot) and Shiraz was his preferred red wine.  This limited volume wine represents a vineyard selection of Shiraz from a specific site that is planted solely on deep, clay– rich "terra rossa" type soils. The vineyard ripens a full month later than our Gravel Hill Shiraz site.

TASTING NOTE  Deep, bright ruby red, leaping from the glass with a bold bouquet of black cherry, blackberry, and hints of thyme buchu layered with warm spices and a subtle meaty note.  Concentrated and dense flavours burst on the palate with textured black fruits and fragrant renosterbos (an endemic shrub with an earthy scent), finishing fresh, lifted, and lingering.

FOOD PAIRING Hearty stews, flame-grilled meats glazed with smoky BBQ sauce, roasted game, and richly seasoned vegetable bakes.
